Sydney has been attracted to water/ water sports as well as youth education her entire life. Since her first swim lesson at age 2, she was hooked on all things water related. This led to participating on the varsity swim team from middle school through college as well as lifeguarding and teaching others how to perfect their skills. In addition to camp, Sydney has been a swimming instructor at the Ellis Hollow Community Pool in Ithaca for the past 6 years, and teaches private lessons in her free time.
As an outdoor enthusiast, you may find her hiking local trails, biking or riding horses, skiing down mountains and even coaching others to swim across Cayuga Lake. In her spare time she also enjoys caring for animals, baking and reading a good book by the beach. Feel free to ask her about her most recent adventure: a +6 month road trip across the continental US!
Sydney completed her Bachelor’s degree at SUNY Cortland, where she majored in Early Childhood/ Childhood Education with a concentration in the Arts. As a teacher in the off-season, you’ll find her in the classroom working with children. She adores working with children and is excited to continue combining her two loves of teaching children and the water, while working at Finger Lakes Adventure Camp!
