JENNIFER WELLS MILLER
Jennifer is an outdoor recreational enthusiast who loves being outdoors. Her passion for the environment and thirst for the outdoors motivated her to change careers at the age of 35 and start her own recreation-based business. Jennifer has a B.A. in Communication Studies and an M.S. in Recreation with a focus in Outdoor and Environmental Education. Jennifer is an American Canoe Association and PaddleFit instructor. Her certifications qualify her to teach skills in standup paddleboarding, kayaking and canoeing. Because she recognizes the need to provide safe learning environments for her customers, she believes in continuing education through her instructor certification program. On top of her American Canoe Association Instructor certifications, she holds her Wilderness First Responder through SOLO and is currently working to obtain her American Canoe Association Instructor Trainer certification for standup paddleboarding. She wants to share her passion and help other instructors and water-sports leaders develop their own outdoor teaching style and skills.
Although, Paddle-N-More is her passion, Jennifer also teaches and leads outdoor excursions and adventures, such as backpacking and mountain biking. She loves to be outdoors and if the wind conditions are not right for paddling, you’ll often see her kiteboarding. In the off-season, if she’s not traveling or skiing, you can find her teaching at future recreation professionals at SUNY Cortland and Ithaca College as an adjunct professor where she enjoys teaching and sharing her knowledge and professional experience to future recreational professionals and leaders.
Bode is an avid outdoorsman and has been learning to play his entire life. From rock climbing to backpacking, paddling and much more; he really is a jack of all trades. Bode is an ACA certified instructor for both kayaking and standup paddleboard; he is also working to perfect his skills for his newest obsession in the world of whitewater. Bode grew up in Washington state; studied Environmental Science and Psychology at University of Redlands in California and got his Master’s in Outdoor and Environmental Education at SUNY Cortland here in New York State; needless to say, he likes to travel. He currently spends the school year teaching for SUNY Cortland as an Outdoor Activity Specialist and then summers here with us at FLX Outdoor Adventure Camp and Paddle-N-More to spread his love and passion for the great out-of-doors.
